Moy Saw Han, a 49-year-old female, became visually impaired in 2018 due to glaucoma. She has only 15% tunnel vision in her left eye and blind in her right eye. In 2022, she took some art classes that were funded by Temasek Fund for the disabled, before joining the Touch Art programme by SAVH in March 2023 and has since been creating artwork. She has a passion to create with her hands - be it painting, doing handicraft, writing poems, baking, and making melodies on the harp, tongue drum, and autoharp. Her paintings seek to bring life, hope and exuberance to others.

In 1982, Daniel suffered a spinal cord trauma resulting in tetraplegia. He started mouth painting in 2009 as he wanted to create something of artistic value. Being an autodidact, he pursued this goal with persistence and has been making progress, as shown by his colourful artworks.

A chance encounter with another tetraplegic introduced him to the therapeutic world of art. Slowly but surely, Aaron discovered his hidden talent for painting and received formal training from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). Aaron’s practice in oil is steeped in realism as he draws inspiration from nature. Every stroke deftly captures his subject in precise detail.

Christina was a Prison Officer before a vehicular accident caused a major spinal cord injury, leaving her paralyzed from the chest down. Always one to see the glass half full, Christina did not give up on herself and discovered mouth painting through a group of friends. Initially apprehensive, she has since grown to enjoy the activity and is proficient with both watercolour and acrylic. Her favourite subjects to paint are flora and fauna. Besides being an artist, Christina is also an award-winning table tennis player, representing Singapore at the recent 11th ASEAN Para Games.

Sijun was born with Down Syndrome and has been fighting against the deterioration of his eyesight and muscles in the past decade. He would paint very slowly, stroke by stroke, to fill up the whole canvas. He loves cars and paintings. If given a choice, he would want to become a car designer or an interior designer. He is a cheerful boy and reflect this in his colourful and bright paintings as colours and sunshine makes him happy.

Moy Saw Han, a 49-year-old female, became visually impaired in 2018 due to glaucoma. She has only 15% tunnel vision in her left eye and blind in her right eye. In 2022, she took some art classes that were funded by Temasek Fund for the disabled, before joining the Touch Art programme by SAVH in March 2023 and has since been creating artwork. She has a passion to create with her hands - be it painting, doing handicraft, writing poems, baking, and making melodies on the harp, tongue drum, and autoharp. Her paintings seek to bring life, hope and exuberance to others.

Chee Meng has been training and working at Arts@Metta since 2008 producing batik painting and pottery art pieces. His skill in the arts has also grown leaps and bounds. He is now one of our resident artist in the arts studio producing complex batik pieces. Diagnosed with intellectual disability, his employment at Arts@Metta enables him to lead an independent life and integrating into society. In his free time, Chee Meng enjoys planting and watching Korean dramas.
